The Verb Mentir

The verb mentir is a typical - ir verb with an e>ie stem change. All forms will have regular endings and they will follow normal stem changing patterns.

mentir = to lie (to tell a untruth)
gerund form = mintiendo
past participle = mentido

Present tense

yo miento	nosotros or nosotras mentimos
tú mientes	vosotros or vosotras mentís
él miente	ellos mienten
ella miente	ellas mienten
usted miente	ustedes mienten

Preterit tense

yo mentí	nosotros/nosotras mentimos
tú mentiste	vosotros/vosotras mentisteis
él mintió	ellos mintieron
ella mintió	ellas mintieron
usted mintió	ustedes mintieron

Imperfect tense

yo mentía	nosotros/nosotras mentíamos
tú mentías	vosotros/vosotras mentíais
él mentía	ellos mentían
ella mentía	ellas mentían
usted mentía	ustedes mentían
