The Verb Tener

The verb tener is really irregular in the preterite but also is a sterm changer. An irregular yo form in the present tense affects the command forms.

tener = to have (possession)
gerund form = teniendo
past participle = tenido

Present tense

yo tengo	nosotros or nosotras tenemos
tú tiene	vosotros or vosotras tenéis
él tiene	ellos tienen
ella tiene	ellas tienen
usted tiene	ustedes tienen

Preterit tense

yo tuve	nosotros/nosotras tuvimos
tú tuviste	vosotros/vosotras tuvisteis
él tuvo	ellos tuvieron
ella tuvo	ellas tuvieron
usted tuvo	ustedes tuvieron

Imperfect tense

yo tenía	nosotros/nosotras teníamos
tú tenías	vosotros/vosotras teníais
él tenía	ellos tenían
ella tenía	ellas tenían
usted tenía	ustedes tenían

Command forms
